A refreshing break from the hum-drum, a poetry post from our friend of Across the Spheres on the joys of modernity and the bittersweetness of nostalgia.
Enjoy!

Small Swords Cut Deep
The little toy castle I played as a boy, The little toy knights with their little toy swords, The happy hours spent, intent on my task, Babbling about the toy lieges and lords. The walls get breached, but I had never asked, Just what it means to lose a castle wall, Or what it means to must endure a siege, Or what it means when kingdoms bleed and fall. My memories of childhood oft retreat, When recollected and the walls are breached, The little toy knights with their swords no more, Faint ghost of joy I no longer can reach.
