Chilling to think about. Cicada and cricket populations come to mind. Some nights it can be just deafening, and some nights it is frightening how silent it is, breeding cycles or not.
It's funny that I can tell the difference just from leaving my small backyard more critter friendly this year - we now get SOME cricket play compared to none down the street. Nature does really rebound quick if you give it a chance.
